How to get the visa to Belarus from Vilnius, Lithuania.

Lithuania is the most common gateway to Belarus. From Vilnius you can reach Minsk by bus or train in a short 2:45 hour trip (this is with the new fast train service). Many tourists prefer to get their visa to Belarus from Vilnius, in this article we are going to give you some information on the course of action you have to follow, making everything easier for you. Please note that it is not possible to get visa for Belarus at the border.

To get a visa for Belarus from Vilnius you have to follow these steps:

- Download and fill the visa application form, you can download it here. You need to attach a passport size photo with the application.

- You need to buy a health insurance for the total duration of your stay in Belarus, which is an easy thing to do. Opposite the Belarusian embassy in Vilnius there is a small BTA office (health insurance Company) and you can get it within 5 minutes. The cost is approximately 0,50 EUR per day.

- The embassy of Belarus is located not far from the center of Vilnius. From Gedimino str., it is a short 15 min. walk but if you are not used to walking in the streets of Vilnius you can easily take a taxi that will cost you maximum 5 EUR. The embassy is located at 41 Muytines str., Vilnius ( ул. Муйтинес, 41), telephone number +370 5 266 22 00.

The embassy accepts visa applications from 08.30 to 13:00. The cost for the visa varies according to your nationality and the type of visa you are applying for. For Europeans the cost is approximately:


1 entry tourist visa (maximum 30 days): 60 EUR

2 entries tourist visa (maximum 30 days): 90 EUR


5 working days are required for the visa to be issued. If you are in hurry you can apply for the express visa. The cost for a single entry express visa is 90 EUR and it can be issued within 1 working day or sometimes you can get it immediately after half an hour.


Please note that you have to pay the cost for your visa in EURO currency and they do not accept Lithuanian Litas, so before you arrive at the embassy you need to have the total amount in cash.


When you enter the embassy and if you do not speak Russian or Lithuanian go to the cashier number 13 since there is the only one officer who speaks English and everything will be much easier.
