A very educative story.
Author: Nick Balidakis  |  Category: Society-Politics

The following story, although seemingly is irrelevant with what is going on lately in Greece and in Europe in general, is indicative of the hypocrisy that characterize our partners, who choose double standards on issues of morality and not only, depending on their interests. So, the… friend and partner Holland has in Minsk a Honorary Consulate.

The duties of Consul are executed by a Belarusian citizen, by the name Alexander Vinokourov. These duties are usually limited in organizing a reception once a year and to attend the events organized by the other diplomatic missions. The position is in most of the cases a “pro bono” one, but brings with it all the benefits of a regular diplomat. In Mr. Vinokourov’s case, though, the Dutch state subsidizes him with an amount of approximately 1.300$ per month.

After some allegations and journalistic researches, it has been proved that this specific gentleman and his family has turn the whole story into a profitable business, violating not only the Belarusian laws, but also the laws under which diplomats operate internationally. Only a part of the aforementioned amount is used for the needs of the Consulate, the daughter and the son-in-law of the… Consul appear as his assistants, his son illegally drives the diplomatic car, forged documents are used for tax and duties evasion and innumerous other illegal activities are committed by the foresaid gentleman and his family. Since the Consulate in Minsk is a Honorary one, the person in charge of its supervision and its effectiveness is the Ambassador of Holland in Poland, Mr. Adriaan Palm. Well, when the incontrovertible evidence have been presented to Mr. Palm, evidence that prove that during his service Mr. Vinokourov has embezzled an amount of approximately 63.000$ -money which more or less belong to the Dutch taxpayers- he found nothing to say.

Like he did nothing since then, given that Mr. Vinokourov remains in his position and continues to enjoy his privileges. Either because he maintains the right connections or because he serves ulterior interests, Holland refuses to call to account its chosen one in Minsk. The same Holland that waves the finger in front of the face of Greece, for the lack of transparency, the lack of reforms and the corruption at the country. The same Holland of same Dijsselbloem, who in an insolent and overt way gives us lessons of fiscal management and morality. Along with Germany of SIEMENS, of DIMLER, of HOCHTIEF and the rest of colossal of purity and clarity… As we’ve said at the beginning, the story is just indicative. But it is also educative and eye-opening. About the fact that Greece and its people has absolutely nothing to expect from this abomination which is called “European family”. And either it will try to stand on its feet by its own means and by building new alliances or will remain a vassal to all those who led the country in the current state.
